Rod Lloyd – Director
I have Over 20 years experience in the Motor Industry. I really enjoy putting deals together that allow us to offer huge discounts to our customers but we never compromise on service.
I spend my spare time getting involved with my rugby club which is BP Llandarcy RFC (National league 2), travelling, Round Table and various other organisations. I have followed Neath RFC and Liverpool FC since I was 7 years old. I am currently restoring a “classic” car but I’m too embarrassed to say what it is!
Even in this economic downturn by focusing on obtaining the best stock at the best prices and maintaining the best customer service we have seen our sales increase on last year. An increasing proportion of our sales come from personal recommendation . I know it’s an old saying but if you are happy with the service tell your friends if not tell me.
My favourite quotation is: "A person who says it can’t be done shouldn’t interrupt the man doing it.". My annual treat is a week of skiing.
Lee Evans - Operation Manager
I am married with two children – I have over 22 Years of customer service experience within the customer sector and over 8 years of Commercial Vehicle sales experience. I have a great understanding of Business taxation and Finance administration and also advanced knowledge of all makes and models of commercial vehicles.
I first got involved in the Leasing and Contract Hire market when I was head-hunted by a then major commercial vehicle supplier after leaving my varied HR and management roles within a major high street retailer. After 18 months of Commercial Vehicle sales I then progressed to managerial and operational roles.
Working at Low Cost Vans is a fantastic experience to work with a wide array of like-minded people with strong skill sets and a common approach to dedicated service to our customers.
A typical day for me will involve the all aspects of Customer service – Direct sales and telephone sales of vehicles – explaining the advantages to business users that a new van will have to their businesses. I get the opportunity to speak with customers from all over the UK and offer accurate advice and a honest unbiased opinion on all makes and models of commercial vehicles. I also support our website and build deals with manufactures to get the best deals on offer to our customers.
For relaxation, I socialise and spend time with my wife and children and perform the occasional d.i.y. task around my house. I would not be without my laptop, mobile phone and Internet access.
My philosophy is to keep things simple, surpass the customer’s expectations and treat people as I would like to be treated myself.
It is a little known fact but I was once Welsh break-dance champion (a very long time ago).
Martin Nixon – Sales Specialist
I have 23 years Motor trade experience (started very young) with Main Dealerships from Ford, Volvo and for the Majority of my time I have sold Vauxhall. For the last 7 years I have specialised in the Commercial Vehicle sector supplying all makes of new vehicles throughout the UK.
It has always frustrated me that the larger companies of this world attain such a huge discount when using their buying power to purchase vehicles and yet the smaller companies or sole traders have to pay considerably more for the same vehicle.
At Low Cost Vans we are able to use our own bulk discount terms to command a massive discount and pass this discount on to our customers. This means that if you want just one vehicle we can still give you a huge discount. It’s a bit like Argos we go to the Manufacturers buy in bulk and distribute them in smaller numbers to our customers.
Its not rocket science – just hard work, always aiming to be the best at what we do.
We want to supply you with your next new van and we want to supply you with all your future vans.
Building a relationship with our customers is the key to our success. We strive to offer stress free service to all our customers and we always say thank you.
Neil Pilarz - Sales Specialist
I have been involved in the motor trade for the last 11 years following in my dad’s footsteps (although he did his best to put me off!!!) During that time I’ve gained valuable experience at both dealerships and car supermarkets. I have been involved in the commercial side of the trade since 2005 and started working at Low Cost Vans in July 2009.
As part of a long standing dedicated team our aim is not only to provide the best prices but just as importantly the best service possible to all of our customers. Whether you are buying 1 or replacing your fleet of vehicles we will strive to cater for all of your needs and make the transition from your old van to new as smooth and easy as possible.
We have understood right from the very beginning that customer satisfaction is the key in taking our business forward and long term customer retention. Being part of a fast growing business in today’s climate shows our ethics are proving successful, something of which I am very proud to be part of.
In my spare time I am a singer in a local cover band which takes up most of time, but I love doing! When I’m not doing that you’ll find me buzzing around on my 1965 Lambretta LI 125 Scooter!
Lee Thomas - Sales Specialist
I’m 48 years old and trying desperately to look 47, it’s not working! The majority of my working life I have been involved in the finance industry, most notably with Lombard for 20 years and as such, I have a pretty comprehensive knowledge of vehicle finance for businesses.
I’ve been at Low Cost Vans for nearly a year now and I really get a kick out of using my experience directly in helping small businesses get the right advice and the right deal, putting the low purchase prices together with the correct finance package can save our customers a lot of money and heartache.
Golf is my main hobby and I’m really looking forward to the day when my 10 yr old son and I can tee it up on a Saturday afternoon and maybe enjoy a small beer afterwards.
Ross Davies - Sales Specialist
I have been involved in the motor trade for around 6 years since graduating from university with a Geography degree (bit of a different career choice!!!). I have also worked for a large high street bank in their business banking sector and therefore really appreciate what makes a business tick.
The right vehicle and correct funding method can be a fundamental part of this process. At Low Cost Vans, the wide variety of stock availability and secured discounts, direct from manufacturer, enable us to offer customer a deal that many did not believe they could get.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend Emma, a cheeky drink here and there and any type of sport- especially the gym, unlike some of my colleagues.
Rob Adams - Sales Specialist
Since leaving school (you decide how long ago), I have always been involved in the motor industry, spending most of my years on the customer services side of the industry with some of the market leading car manufacturers ranging from Ford to Volvo and finally Mercedes Benz.
How I ended up selling commercial vehicles is still a bit of a mystery but it is a fantastic industry to be involved in. It has taken up the last 8 years of my career and still no day is ever the same.
At Low Cost Vans we offer simple impartial advice about all vehicle makes and models to ensure that you get the right van for the job. There has been a lot to learn and even more to master but I now feel that I have the knowledge to advise our customers of the right package to suit them, whether it’s Contract Hire, Finance Lease or Hire Purchase. The solutions are simple, just ask!
In my spare time (apparently I get some)? I spend it with my wife and 2 girls, mainly during the warmer climates in our caravan (unless there is rugby on). I would love to say I go to the gym and keep fit but exercise to me is to get from the settee to the kettle and back during the TV adverts.
Lee Jenkins - Sales Specialist
I have been involved in the motor industry from 2004 where I started work for a large van company, supplying all makes and models of commercial vehicles. In 2009, I decided to leave to motor industry all together and try something new.
I was offered a job as a porter at my local hospital, which I really enjoyed and never thought I would leave. I then received a call from Low Cost Vans asking if would like to be involved within the motor trade again and met with the Director’s in February 2011. I was blown away by their ideas and plans for the company and thought to myself; I really want to be a part of that, so here I am.
I believe that giving the customer straight and honest advice is the best way to build business relationships because I don’t just want to sell you one vehicle; I want to sell you all your vehicles so you have one point of contact (hopefully me). I have sound knowledge in all funding methods for your commercial vehicle and am confident that I can find a deal that’s right for you.
In my spare time I play golf at my local golf course also I enjoy playing darts, squash, football, and online gaming with my Play Station 3.
Katie Andrews - Customer Care
I’m 21 years old and have been working at Low Cost Vans since March this year. I am the Customer Care Specialist for Low Cost Vans and I have over 4 years of Customer Service experience. My job includes dealing with Customer queries, providing Insurance advise and generally liaising with the customer, until their van is delivered and they are happy.
I previously worked for a well known mobile network provider. I spent the majority of my time there dealing with front line customer service calls and eventually, moving on to become a Team Leader.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend Paul, whether that’s playing (losing ha) Tennis or going out for a few drinks. We are soon to start looking for our first house, which I’m sure will be a challenge in itself!
As a stereotypical woman, my favourite thing to do is shop, mostly for ridiculous amounts of shoes it’s my guilty pleasure. However, I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie enjoying adventurous activities and I want to complete a sky dive at some point this year –hopefully to raise money for a charity.
Sian Bromham - Sales Administrator
I am 24 years old and have been working in the motor trade industry since I left college at 18. I have gained my experience by starting off as an office junior at a leasing company, I then moved on to join the accounts team and eventually working in the customer services department.
I started at Low Cost Vans over a year and half ago now and joined the team as the first sales administrator and I was also the first female ever to be employed by Low Cost Vans!
I was brought in to help the guys with their paperwork and to free them up to sell more vehicles. As any woman, I enjoy talking and having banter so the job I have is perfect for me!
I liaise and build rapport with suppliers and manufacturers and enjoy helping customers with any requests, aiming to provide the best customer care as possible from first point of sale, until delivery and beyond. Everyone here loves where we work and we are all friends as well as colleagues and in my case family (Lee Evans is my brother in law).
I have recently returned from maternity leave after having my first child and am currently renovating my first home with my partner. When I have time, I like to catch up on the gossip with my friends at the weekend!
Joanne Sparey – Sales Administrator
I have worked at Low Cost Vans since 2009 and I have had several years experience working in the Motor Industry.
My job involves dealing with suppliers, customers and the UK’s leading leasing company. I also get involved in a lot of the day to day running of Low Cost Vans because I am nosey and like to be in the know. I have just completed a 7 week course in Leadership and I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it especially the homework! I will receive my grade in a few weeks so only time will tell as to whether I paid attention in class!
Working at Low Cost Vans is nothing like the boring 9 to 5 previously experienced and it’s not like working for a living as we are all the very best of friends, enjoy each other’s company and have fun every day.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, walking and gardening. I am shortly becoming the proud owner of a Seal Point Siamese baby boy kitten whose name will be Jude.
Zoe Ling - Sales Administrator
I am nearly 19 years old, making me the youngest and newest member of Low Cost Vans starting in June this year. As most people leaving school, I didn’t know what I wanted to do and after attempting A Levels at college, I took the next available course in Business Administration, working in the Magistrates’ Court in Port Talbot.
After successfully completing my NVQ Level 2 a year later I was again put in the same situation on what to do next. I then worked in the Insurance industry for a short period of time but found it was not for me and decided to leave, thankfully I picked the right time to leave as not long after I got the job at Low Cost Vans.
Since being here, I feel I have fitted in very well as everyone is very nice and it’s a very enjoyable company to work for. I will also be going back to college part time to complete my NVQ Level 3 in Business Admin.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend, family and friends and going out on the weekends as most 18 year olds do.
Carl Barry – Accounts Assistant
I am 38 years old and have been working in accounts since my early 20’s. Most of my experiences/knowledge gained over the years have been in the manufacturing sector (Panasonic & Hitachi to name a few). I joined Low Cost Vans at the End of November 2010 as an accounts assistant and am enjoying the challenges it brings.
My hobbies include playing 5-a-side football, snooker & badminton (when I have the time as I have a 11 month old son!) and for my sins, I support Liverpool!
Elliott Gardner – Webmaster
I am 21 years old; I started working in Low Cost Vans just over a year ago. I was brought in to keep the website up to date from van specification to van prices.
In my spare time I enjoy watching football, I am a proud supporter of Arsenal.
