Minibus Leasing & Contract Hire
Minibuses are normally panel vans which have been converted and fitted with seats. The number of seats in a new minibus varies with the wheelbase of the original platform but is typically 12, 13, 16 or 17. It’s important to note that under most circumstances a PCV licence is needed for minibuses with nine or more seats. Further conversions such as wheel chair lifts or ramps are possible. The Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS), is a training scheme for minibus drivers. It may optionally include certification to use tail lifts and adaptations for wheelchairs that permit the passenger to travel safely whilst remaining in the chair. Most volunteer drivers driving for community organisations and schools are now required to have and maintain their MiDAS qualification in order to carry out their duties, no matter that their normal driving licence may already entitle them to drive a minibus.
